Find the right fit before you buy.Clear advice. Sources you can check.

Our editorial approach

Clear advice needs visible evidence.

What we research, what we check, and how we explain what is still unknown.

Start with primary sources

Identify the source, keep the context, and state the limits of the evidence.

We use manufacturer manuals, compatibility pages and product documentation to establish the requirements a brand describes. Guides link to those sources and show when they were checked.

A manufacturer statement is not the same as our own test. We label researched information accordingly, and do not turn a supported brand name into a guarantee for every model.

Make the important distinctions

Identify the source, keep the context, and state the limits of the evidence.

A controller can receive power without being able to control an air conditioner. A remote can be wireless without using infrared. A model can work in one region without proving the fit of another regional version. Our guides explain distinctions that could change your decision.

If a model or function is not confirmed, we tell you what needs checking. We do not fill gaps with invented prices, review scores, test counts or savings estimates.

Research and testing are different

Identify the source, keep the context, and state the limits of the evidence.

The guides currently on HomeTechMatch are research-based. We have not performed hands-on controller tests. A future tested guide will identify the actual equipment, region, test date, conditions and limits of that test.

Our diagrams explain concepts. They are not installation photographs, product photographs or evidence that equipment has been tested.

Editorial responsibility

Identify the source, keep the context, and state the limits of the evidence.

Marvin Smit is the founder and editorial contact for HomeTechMatch. AI tools assist with research organization, drafting and site development. Source checks and editorial responsibility remain part of the process.

Corrections and product changes can lead to meaningful guide updates. Changing a date alone does not make the research newer. Affiliate arrangements do not determine which compatibility requirements we report.
